Your privacy is important to us. It is The Daily Smark's ("The Daily Smark," "we," "us," or "our") policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, https://www.thedailysmark.com, our mobile applications for iOS, iPadOS, and Android, and other sites we own and operate (together, the "Services").
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we're collecting it and how it will be used, which is what the sections below describe.
We do not display advertising, we do not sell personal information, and the Services do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
The mobile applications can be used without creating an account. In that case, we do not create a user record on our servers, and your preferences are stored only on your device. Our servers receive only the request information described in Section 3, which includes an identifier for your device.
Earlier versions of the mobile applications created a guest record on our servers. Where such a record exists, it contains the information listed in Section 2, with the exception of name, email address, and password.
An account is required to save bookmarks, subscribe to podcasts, and receive push notifications. When you create an account, we collect and store:
We use your email address to authenticate you, to reset your password, and to send messages about your account.
Each request the mobile applications make to our servers is recorded. A log entry contains the device identifier, your account identifier if you are signed in, the address requested, the application version, the device's user agent, the response status, and the time of the request. The address requested may include search terms you enter.
We use request logs to diagnose errors, detect abuse, understand which features are used, and prepare internal reports on the operation of the Services. Request logs do not contain IP addresses. IP addresses are used temporarily to limit the rate of requests from a single connection and are recorded in our servers' access logs.
The mobile applications request access to your location only when you search for wrestling events near you, and you may decline. The applications request approximate location only, at roughly city-level accuracy, and use it to find events near you. Location is not collected in the background. Your coordinates are used to complete that search, are removed from request logs, and are not shared with Ticketmaster or any other third party.
When the mobile applications display an error, they send us a report containing the error message, the platform, the application version, and your account identifier if you are signed in. When you report a missing podcast or flag content, we receive the information you submit and the item you flagged.
The website does not use analytics services, tracking pixels, or advertising. It sets only the cookies required for the website to function, such as a session cookie and a security token for forms. Requests to the website are recorded in our servers' access logs.
We also operate a public AI connector, described at thedailysmark.com/ai. The connector does not use accounts. For each request, we record the tool used, the time of the request, and the user agent of the requesting application.
We use third-party service providers to operate the Services. Each receives only the information necessary to perform its function, and only for that purpose. These include:
We also use an AI service provider to help organize and summarize publicly available wrestling news, events, and podcasts. No personal information is sent to this provider.
Other than the service providers listed above, we don't share any personally identifying information publicly or with third parties, except when required to by law.
We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. Account information is retained for as long as your account exists. Request logs and error reports are retained for as long as they remain useful for diagnosing problems and understanding how the Services are used.
What data we store, we'll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
You may delete your account in the mobile applications by opening the More tab, selecting your account, and choosing Delete Account. This closes your account, signs you out, and sends a confirmation email. Your email address remains reserved so that it cannot be used to register a new account.
You may request permanent erasure of your data by contacting us through the support page. On receiving a verified request, we will permanently delete your account, email address, bookmarks, podcast subscriptions, devices, request logs, and error reports. You may also request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or request that it be corrected.
You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services.
The Services link to external sites that are not operated by us, including the news articles, videos, and podcasts they collect from other publishers. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
If we change the information the Services collect, we will update this Privacy Policy and the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect. We will also note significant changes in the release notes. Your continued use of the Services will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information.
If you have any questions about how we handle user data and personal information, feel free to contact us.
